Bekah Hawrot Weigel is a mother, wife, and coder. Technology wasn't always her passion, but now she is pursuing it wholeheartedly, "In October 2016, I was an English adjunct about to have my fourth kid. During delivery, however, I suffered a traumatic injury that left me with with a complex surgery, anxiety, and PTSD. Everyday was difficult, physically and mentally.
My husband, Jesse Weigel, encouraged me to learn to code. Once I committed myself, I found I was falling in love. I was fortunate enough to become part of the Moms Can: Code community early on. The group was supportive and most importantly, they understood the challenges moms face as we try to learn a new skill, brush up on old ones, or just continue to learn.
The challenge for me is to code everyday with anytime I have. That usually comes in the 5:00am hour, when I ride the exercise bike at lunch time, and if I'm really lucky, for an hour in the evening. I'm still very much a newbie, but I'm motivated and determined to learn everyday."
